Traffic cop killed by speeding truck

A 30-year-old traffic police constable died after being hit by a truck in north Delhi's Kotwali this morning, the police said.

The deceased constable, Vinesh Kumar, was on duty beneath the Geeta Colony flyover.

He was hit when he tried to intercept the truck. His colleagues, who were on duty, rushed him to a hospital where he died during treatment, the police said.

He used to stay in Noida with his family and was posted at Kotwali traffic circle.

Today, he tried to stop a truck but the driver accelerated and ended up hitting the traffic police personnel.

He was rushed to Max Hospital, Patparganj with head injuries where he died during treatment.
 

He belonged to Aligarh and was married. He has a three- and-a-half-year-old daughter, police said.
