Traffic in the city again came to a standstill today due to waterlogging following two hours of heavy showers today resulting in a five-km long jam on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway on NH-8 and several other important intersections.

Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, Manesar, Udyog Vihar, Old Gurgaon Road and Rajeev Chowkwitnessed waterlogging and choked traffic movement after heavy rainfall from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, officials said.

"Gurgaon recorded 3 mm rains. Najafgarh drain was overflowing. Water logging was recorded at Hero Honda chowk resulting in long vehicular pile up at the entire stretch of National Highway-8," said TL Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon.

"Policemen, senior officials of district administration and NHAI officials assisted to ease the traffic movement by 11 am," he added.

"The police have taken control the situation and made the traffic movement smooth at Hero Honda Chowk. Traffic was disturbed on account of waterlogging and some vehicles broke down which led to vehicular piled up on major roads," said Commissioner of Gurgaon Police Sandeep Khairwal.
