Vehicular traffic remained paralysed for some three-and-a-half hours on the Ooty-Mysore road today, as big boulders and mud fell in the middle of the road due to a landslip following heavy rains.

Officials said vehicles were seen stranded at a distance of two km on either side of the road in the forest stretch of Mudumalai-Kallhati at the 31st hairpin bend from 11.30 AM.

Earthmovers were requisitioned and the boulders were pushed down into a deep gorge, clearing the way for traffic.

Heavy rains lashed the area throughout last night.
