Traffic Police has registered eight cases against those advertisers and individuals who flouted the Rajasthan Property Defacing Prevention Act by posting bills and banners on signals and signage.

The cases have been registered against those who flouted Section 3 and 5 of Rajasthan Property Defacing Prevention Act, 2006 and indulged in defacing public property and traffic signals, signage, boards recently, Traffic Police DCP Sanjay Shotriya said today.

The cases were registered in Moti Dungari, Gandhi Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Mahesh Nagar, Vidhyadhar Nagar, and Adarsh Nagar police stations, the DCP said, adding in many cases the accused were known, and in others advertisers would be traced and punished.

The fluorescent colours on signage are very costly and once a poster is pasted the signage becomes dirty and useless for public use, Shotriya said.

Banners, poster and other materials posed not only defaces property but also disturbs traffic rules leading to road accidents, he added.

The Traffic Police had also moved papers to Jaipur Development Authority and Jaipur Municipal Corporation to ensure strict action is taken against those who flout the act, the DCP said.

Meanwhile, Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation's special Police Station also lodged similar five cases for defacing and damaging its big pillars with posters, banners and signage, a PRO said.
