Flanked by several ministers, Tara Chand made the traffic signal lights operational at ten different tri-junctions in the city.
"This will ensure smooth regulation and management of traffic in Jammu winter capital city", Chand told reporters.
"To regulate traffic and ease the commuters from frequent traffic jams the government has initiated the Electric Traffic Signal Lights (ETSL) project in both the capital cities", he said.
In the first phase, ten Electric Traffic Signal Lights (ETSL) have been made operational in the city.
The installation of 30 traffic lights for better regulation of traffic in Jammu has been completed so far.

The deadline for installation of such lights and subsequently making them functional at 30 prime locations here was June 18.
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) are executing the Rs 250 lakh-project at their own cost on behalf of the Traffic Department with private sector Omax Company installing the traffic lights.
The state level contract committee in the Housing and Urban Development Department in consultation with traffic police identified 30 and 31 locations in Jammu and Srinagar, respectively, for installation of the signal lights. (More)
