Trailer truck crushes six people in UP

A loaded trailer truck lost control and crashed into a market on the Lucknow-Varanasi national highway, killing six people and injuring four, police said today.

Three people were crushed under the truck in the market while three more died when their motorcycles rammed into the vehicle from behind, the police said.

"A trailer truck fell on people after the driver lost his control over the vehicle. The accident took place this morning at Jalalpur market. Three persons riding a motorcycle were also rammed into it," Circle Officer (city) Nripendra said.

The deceased were identified as Prince alias Munna (22), Rajji Devi, Tannu (5), Ajay Singh (50), Phoolchand (45) and Anwar (51). The four injured were referred to a hospital, the police said, adding the bodies were sent for post-mortem.

 

District Magistrate Arvind Mallapa Bangari said of the six deceased, three were farmers from Jaunpur.
