Train movement affected at Howrah

Train movement to and from Howrah station was affected this afternoon for over an hour when the middle pantograph of a Howrah-Bandel local (37251 Up) was broken and got entangled with the overhead wire.

The train got stranded as a result near the Howrah Cabin at 1.37 pm blocking train movement from platform No. 1 to 5 of Howrah station, Eastern Railway sources said here.

Tower van crews were rushed to the site and the affected EMU local train was taken back to Howrah platform at 2.40 pm, ER sources said.

Normal train movements at Howrah, one of the busiest stations in the country, was gradually restored, the sources said.
 

Train movement from other platforms at Howrah were, however, maintained during the period.
