A group of robbers today looted some passengers of Bhopal-Howrah Express after beating them up between Renikoot and Garhwa Road stations bordering Garhwa and Palamau districts in Jharkhand.

"The robbers looted Rs 25,000 and a mobile before getting down from the train," Railway Protection Force Commandant H M Tiwari said.

The passengers got down at the Garhwa Road station and kicked up commotion, he added.

He, however, denied claims that robbers looted about Rs 10 lakh from the passengers, including from a Sri Lankan citizen. The train was going to Howrah when the incident happened, he said.
