A 15-year-old boy was killed while his parents and elder brother were injured when a train engine rammed into a car at an unmanned railway crossing near here, police said today.

The mishap occurred last night at Prabhatnagar Railway Crossing, a few kilometres from here, when Lajjaram, a chauffeur, was on his way to a temple along with his family.

Due to the impact of the collision, the car was dragged for some distance before the shouts of onlookers caught the attention of the engine driver.

It took police and railway authorities several hours to extricate the victims out of the car.

The four were taken to a nearby hospital where Shubham (15) succumbed to injuries, police said.
