Train movement was disrupted today due to rail roko in Assam at Tetelia railway station under Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway, said a senior railway official.
About 1000 picketers from Amri Karbi Association blocked the railway tracks at the station near Chandrapur from 4 am disrupting normal train running and causing various mail and express trains to be detained, said NF Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Sugato Lahiri.
The trains were detained for different periods with the 15604 DN Intercity Express kept at Kamrup Khetri station, the 12235 DN Rajdhani Express at Jagiroad station, 12423 DN Rajdhani Express at Chaparmukh Junction station, 12067 UP Janshatabdi Express at Guwahati station, 15960 DN Kamrup Express at Hojai station and the 55604 DN Mairabari-Guwahati Passenger at Chaparmukh Junction station, Lahiri said.

Apart from the passenger trains many goods trains also got detained at various stations, he said added, normal train running resumed after the rail roko was called off at 7.20 am.
The Amri Karbi Association was demanding autonomous council and Scheduled Tribe status for the Amri Karbi ethnic group.
