Train service hit due to rains in Odisha

Train services in East Coast Railway Zone was partially disrupted today as rain water continued to flow between Saragipali and Handapa stations in Angul-Sambalpur section and landslide between Keutguda and Sikarpai stations in Rayagada-Koraput Railway Section.

In view of instances of mud, boulder and tree falling on railway track in hill areas, East Coast Railway has decided to cancel and short-terminate some trains, an official release said.

As part of measures to ensure safety of the train communication, the authorities cancelled Sambalpur-Koraput- Sambalpur passenger train on August 5, from both the directions.

Running of Rourkela-Koraput Express leaving Rourkela and Visakhapatnam-Koraput Express leaving Visakhapatnam have been cancelled today, the release said adding that Koraput- Visakhapatnam Express scheduled to leave Koraput tomorrow will also be cancelled.
 

Bhubaneswar-Jagadalpur Express leaving Bhubaneswar today will run up to Rayagada and return back from Rayagada to Bhubaneswar on August 5. The train will remain cancelled between Rayagada and Jagadalpur from both the directions on tomorrow, it said.

Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Passenger leaving Visakhapatnam today will run up to Koraput and will return back from Koraput to Visakhapatnam. This train will remain cancelled between Koraput and Kirandul from both the directions.

Howrah-Jagadalpur Samaleswari Express scheduled to leave Howrah on August 4, will run up to Titilagarh and will return back from Titilagarh to Howrah on August 5 2014. This train will remain cancelled between Titilagarh and Jagadalpur from both the directions, the release said.

Special Railway Inspection and Safety Teams have been deployed at all sensitive locations to keep a sharp look-out for any abnormality, they said.
