Train services were affected in Koraput-Rayagada section of East Coast Railway today due to incessant heavy rains triggered by a low-pressure area in the sea.
Because of heavy downpour, boulders and clay mounds came crashing on the railway tracks between Rauli and Tikiri railway station, blocking the railway traffic, Station Superintendent, Tikiri, Hembram said.
As a result, some trains passing through the route had to be cancelled for today, he said.
The trains which were cancelled include the Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express, Durg-Jagdalpur Express, Howrah-Sambalpur Samaleswari Express, Sambalpur-Koraput Passenger and Koraput-Visakhapatnam DMU (two ways), he said.
