Train services disrupted

Train services on the

Rampurhat-Gumani Section of Eastern Railway's Howrah Division were disrupted for about two hours since 11:10 am because of obstruction by local people following an accident.

A group of people obstructed train movement at Swadinpur station protesting the running over of a 12-year-old child by 12042 Dn New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Shatabdi Express, Eastern Railway sources said.

The child reportedly attempted to cross the railway tracks without noticing the approaching train.

As a result, 15657 Up Kanchanjungha Express, 15942 Dn Dibrugarh-Jhajha Express, 13417 Up Digha-Malda Express, 13017 Up Ganadevata Express and four other passenger trains were detained en route during the obstruction period.
 

The obstruction was withdrawn at 01.20 pm, the sources said.
