Incessant rain in the past couple of days has thrown life out of gear in Arunachal Pradesh capital and its adjoining areas disrupting train services.

A portion of the broad gauge railway track at Gumto in Papum Pare district was washed away in floods triggered by continuous downpour, disrupting train service to the state capital, official sources informed here today.

Resumption of train service could be possible only after completion of repairing work at the damaged stretch, which might take weeks to complete, sources added.

The maiden train service in the state started on April 7 as announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to put Arunachal Pradesh on the railway map of India.
