A fitness trainer of international repute, Harish Gurjar, died in a road accident here along with his son and driver when his car collided head-on with another vehicle near Dechu.

42-year-old Gurjar's son Kanishka (10) and the driver of his car, Sunil Rao (35), also died in the accident that occurred last evening, 100 km from Jodhpur on Jodhpur-Jaisalmer highway.

His wife, mother and daughter were injured in the accident and were stated to be out of danger, police said today.

42-year-old Gurjar, who is based in Canada, was on his way to pay obeisance at the shrine of local deity Baba Ramdeo in Jaisalmer district with his family.

According to Parbat Singh Bhati, SHO (Dechu), their car collided head-on with a speeding car coming from opposite direction.

"His son Kanishka died while he was being taken to a hospital in Jodhpur whereas Gurjar and Rao succumbed to their injuries in the hospital," said Bhati.

Harish had trained who's who from different fields including tech csar Bill Gates and actor Daniel Craig.

According to eye witnesses, the collision was so intense that both the vehicles got badly entangled. Villagers took the injured to a nearby health center. However, due to lack of medical faclities there, they were referred to Jodhpur.

"Had there been adequate facilities there at the local health centre, their lives could have been saved," said a friend of the family.

Trained by his father, Khinv Raj Gurjar, who himself is a renowned figure in fitness and power yoga, Harish Gurjar had settled in Canada since long and had arrived in Jodhpur to celebrate Diwali with his family after three years.
