"The Training Day" TV series has found a home at CBS, after news broke last week that it's the latest Hollywood blockbuster getting adapted for the small screen.

The original movie's director Antoine Fuqua is back for this pilot, which picks up 15 years after the film and is set in the modern-day Los Angeles Police Department, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As well as directing, Fuqua will executive produce alongside Jonathan Littman and Gangster Squad's Will Beall, a former LAPD detective who is also writing the pilot.

2001 film "Training Day" starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke as two LAPD officers over a 24-hour period in the rough neighbourhoods of South Central Los Angeles.

Washington won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in the crime thriller.

"Training Day" isn't the only Hollywood film heading to TV at CBS, with the network also working on series for "Limitless" and "Rush Hour".
