Training of around 5,000 undergraduate teachers commenced in Jammu and Kashmir with the state government aiming to coach 8,700 teachers in the next two years.
The first stage of the professional training of 5,000 untrained teachers has been started in the state, State Project Director, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), SSA, Saugat Biswas, said.
"The target of training 8,700 untrained undergraduate teachers in the next two years has been fixed," he said said.
The exercise is being executed by the Directorate of SSA, J&K in collaboration with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), he said.
