Named "Hunar Se Rozgar", the programme offers young people in the age group of 18-28 years with education upto the level of minimum 8th standard to be given training and also a stipend.
"The youths are being given quality hospitality education to fulfil the needs of skilled manpower in the hospitality sector," said a senior IRCTC official.
The training programme as part of the capacity building exercise of Tourism Ministry is being carried out at the Indian Railway Customer Care Institute here.
The scheme imparts short term training in housekeeping, bakery and multi-skilled course in food production and food and beverage industry.
The Hunar Se Rozgar will not only put the skills of the trainees on a higher pedestal but will also train them with the right approach and attitude and hospitality finesse that will certainly result in an improved quality of service rendered to tourists so as to encourage them to revisit our country, the official said.
The scheme offers an eight-week course in food production and a six-week course in F&B services simultaneously with a batch strength of 25 trainees in each course at the training institute.
The trainees will be paid a stipend of Rs 1,500 for F&B course and Rs 2,000 for food production course. "Besides, they will also be provided with uniform, study material, tool kits and daily lunch during the training programme," the official said.
