Trains to be suspended on Badarpur-Kumarghat-Agartala section

Running of passenger and goods trains in Badarpur-Kumarghat-Agartala section will be stopped from September 20 to facilitate faster conversion of existing meter gauge track to a broad gauge one.

North East Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer P J Sharma today said a 'mega block' will be taken up in the section, excluding Badarpur railway station from October 1 next to facilitate faster gauge conversion.

Train number 05263 Agartala-Karimganj passenger special and 05264 Karimganj-Agartala passenger special will stop running from September 20, Sharma said.

The 'mega block' has been granted for six months till March 31 next to complete the entire conversion work of the Badarpur-Kumarghat-Agartala section, he said.
 

After that Agartala will be connected by broad gauge track to the rest of the country, the spokesman added.
