Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said that improving the functioning of the Power Development department (PDD) by curbing power thefts and reducing pilferages was his government's top priority.
"Transforming the image of the Power Development department by improving revenue realisation and reducing power thefts and pilferage besides taking other corrective measures is the government's top priority for which a fool-proof system is being put in place," Singh said at a meeting with officials of the department in Poonch.
He said that the government would reward dedicated officials for their performance and improving the functioning of the department.
He directed the officers concerned to set up inspection squads along with officials from Civil and Police administration to check power thefts, transmission and distribution losses.
