A translocated female rhino was killed allegedly by poachers and its horn removed in Assam's Manas National Park.

The carcass of the rhino, which had recently given birth to a calf, was found near Kahitema beat under Bansbari range, Park officials said today.

It was suspected that the animal was killed last night as it was sighted yesterday afternoon, they said adding this was the second incident of poaching in the Park this year.

The rhino was translocated from Kaziranga National Park on March 12, 2012 under the Indian Rhino Vision-2020, and had given birth to a calf on March 20 this year.
