Transport Corpn directed to give Rs 45 lakh compensation

Five years after he was knocked down by a Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation bus and paralysed from waist below, a Salem police head constable is set to get about Rs 46 lakh compensation within a month.

Following a compensation plea filed by head constable G Naserbasha, Judicial Magistrate Ramkrishnan yesterday directed the state corporation to give Rs 45.85 lakh before one month or otherwise interest should be given at a rate of 7.5 per cent per year from the date of filing of application.

Naserbasha was returning home after duty on his two-wheeler when the bus rammed into it on August 19,2009 at Ammapet Thathampatty here. His spinal cord was broken in the accident.
