Uttar Pradesh minister for Basic Education and Child Nutrition Kailash Chaurasia today landed in a controversy after road transport officer alleged that he was abused and beaten by him.

"The minister had called me at his office this afternoon and asked me not to give joining to a clerk in the office. I informed that it is mandatory to give joining as there was a High Court order in this regard and he would have to face contempt if he did not comply with it," Assistant Road transport officer (ARTO) Chhunilal told reporters.

The ARTO said that the minister got agitated with his reply and started beating and abusing him.

"The minister also said that I did not give him money timely," the officer said.

However, the minister has denied occurrence of any such incident.

The ARTO has filed a complaint with Katra police station in this matter. Police Inspector Shafiq Ahmad said that he would register FIR after probing the matter.
