Transportation of raw material to Uktal Alumina hit by protest

Transportation of raw materials to private sector Utkal Alumina in Odisha's Rayagada district remained affected due to protest by local people, district officials said here today.

Demanding, among others, more allowances and job for a member of each family in the company, local people had resorted to protest and road blockade since November 20 affecting movement of bauxite from Bafalamali hills under Mainkanch gram panchayat of the district, they said.

Meanwhile, apprehending tension due to the protest at least four platoon of police force had been deployed in the area, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Rayagada, Y Jagannath Rao said.
 

At leat 30 vehicles are used for transporting the raw material from Bafalamali hills to Utkal Alumina refinery at Doraguda, about 20 km away.

"Production in the plant will be affected if the protest and road blockade continues further", plant officials said.
