TRANSSION India appoints Arijeet Talapatra as new CEO

TRANSSION Holdings, which runs mobile phone brands like itel and Tecno, today said it has elevated Arijeet Talapatra as the CEO of its India operations with immediate effect.

Talapatra has been associated with TRANSSION since its entry in the Indian market and has spearheaded the sales, distribution and retail functions of the company in his role as Senior Vice President National Head, Sales, Distribution and Retail, TRANSSION said in a statement.

In his new role, Talapatra will lead the development and execution of the company's long-term strategy and will be responsible for making top-level managerial decisions.

Digital payments company PhonePe today said customers have purchased over 250 kgs of gold through its platform in the last five months.

 

"In a short span of five months, customers have purchased over 250 kgs of 24K gold on PhonePe," it said in a statement.

The company's platform allows users to buy certified 24K Gold of 99.5 per cent purity (partnership with SafeGold) and 99.99% purity (with MMTC-PAMP) for as low as Re 1. The gold prices are linked with rates in the commercial bullion market and customers can choose to get physical delivery of the gold as well.

Payments firm PayMate has acquired digital lending platform Z2P (Zaitech Technology) for an undisclosed amount.

Z2P provides hassle-free and real-time credit using social and banking data along with proprietary analytics and AI, PayMate said in a statement.

As a result of the acquisition, PayMate acquires an innovative and proven lending solution in Z2P, which when combined with PayMate's proprietary B2B payments platform will revolutionise the way businesses manage their payment operations, cashflow, and access to growth capital, it added.

Directa Plus plc, a producer and supplier of graphene-based products for use in consumer and industrial markets, has entered into a collaboration with leading denim maker Arvind Ltd.

Their exclusive agreement would allow the leading textile-to-retail and brands conglomerate to infuse Directa Plus graphene-based products into their denim fabrics, said a joint statement.

Commenting on the collaboration Arvind Ltd CEO Denims Aamir Akhtar said: "The use of graphene in Denims is absolutely new and will yield some of the smartest, most widely used fabrics in the years ahead."

*** Suresh Prabhu to address start-up community live on Twitter *

Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu will tomorrow address the start-up community in a live session on Twitter.

The objective of the live session is to address concerns and elaborate on the support which they can seek from Startup India, the ministry said in a statement.

"Participants need to use the hash tag #AskPrabhu and put their questions across before the live session," it added.
