Tremor in Myanmar jolts NE states

A moderate intensity quake rocked the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur early today in which several states in the northeast region of India also felt the tremor.

There was no report of any casualty, officials said.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter Scale and having its epicentre in Myanmar along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur rocked the area at around 8:49 am, officials at the Regional Seismological Centre here told PTI adding that the quake lasted for a few seconds.

While the neighbouring states of Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura felt the mild jolt, there was no report of any casualty in any of these states, officials said.
 

Manipur and all the seven northeastern states are categorised under Zone V in the country's seismological map and hence considered highly active.
