Aruna Bahuguna, Director, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, unfurled the tri-colour on a specially designed 100-feet high flag mast at a ceremonial parade specially convened for the occasion today.
The mast weighs 109 tons and stands at the height of 620.89 metres from the mean sea level. It is erected on Vallabh Sikhar, the highest point of the Academy which is located in Shivrampally here.
"This tri-colour will not be lowered in the evening and will be illuminated by floodlights. This is the second tallest national flag mast erected in this part of the country. The flag is visible from the surrounding areas, that is, PV Narasimha Rao flyover and the Bangalore highway," Academy said in a statement.
On this occasion, 109 IPS probationers of 68 RR and 15 foreign police trainee officers from Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives and families of the faculty were present and saluted the tri-colour.
