Three candidates are now in the fray for the election to the lone Mizoram Lok Sabha seat, while it would be a straight contest in the by-election to the Hrangturzo Assembly seat after the last date for withdrawal of candidature ended today, state election department officials said.

Polling for the Lok Sabha seat and the Hrangturzo by-election would be held on April 9.

The candidates for the Lok Sabha seat were C L Ruala of the ruling Congress, Mike Lalmanzuala of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Robert Romawia Royte of the United Democratic Front (UDF), an alliance of eight opposition parties.

Vanlalhlimpuii Chawngthu of the Congress and H Lalduhawma of the UDF would lock horns in the by-election to the Hrangturzo Assembly seat, officials added.
