Tribal Carnival, showcasing tribal music and Jharkhand culture, would be observed every year, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said today.

Addressing 'Kartik Oraon Birth Anniversary and Jatra' at Dhurwa ground here, he said nobody could "harm" the culture of the state and the country because of its deep rooted strength.

Promising to fulfill the dreams of late Kartik Oraon, Das said he would make Jharkhand a progressive state, rising above caste, sections and community.

Tribals are getting rights in the path of development and they want speedy development. But some people sought to mislead the society, he said, adding that they had made Jharkhand 'lootkhand' and now they wanted to make it 'jhootkhand'.

However, nothing but progress would happen in Jharkhand, he asserted.

Alleging that earlier the land of the poor tribals had been "looted" through 'commission' (bribe), Das said his government has stopped it through the scheduled area regulation courts.

Earlier, lack of local policy had deprived job to the tribal youth but now jobs were being made available for them.

The Chief Minister claimed the simplification of Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act (CNT) and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act (SNT) would benefit the owner of the land and not any other person.

Earlier, their land was used for agriculture purpose but after the simplification land owners could set up shops and engage in business, he said.

Saying that roads were being built, the Chief Minister asked whether land owners did not have the right to set up shops or other business alongside the roads? Would they remain unemployed? Would they remain unemployed?

After the simplification of CNT and SNT acts the land owners could do agriculture as well as business, Das added.

A total of 257 sub-stations have to be constructed to electrify thirty lakh households, Das said.

The government also wants to construct roads, create irrigation facility, construct 12,000 additional anganwadi centres, but some people were still trying to create hurdles, he said.

Das further announced that the government would set up a fund to help the students from the poor families to pursue studies in IITs and IIMs.

In an another function at Jamshedpur, Das assured that the proposal of his government to bring about amendment in decades-old Chhotanagpur and Santal Paragana Tenancy Act (CNT and SPT) was aimed to simplify the act in the interest of the tribal community as well as for the development of the state.

"There is no need to be worried about the proposal as it is aimed to simplify the act for the development of the state and in the interest of the tribal community," he said at Sohrai festival organised by Adivasi Youth Club at Karandih in the outskirts of the steel city here.

In an indirect reference to opposition parties slamming the government's proposal, the Chief Minister cautioned the tribal youths to be aware of forces indulged in spreading hatred and dividing the society whereas the objective of politics was to connect the people and not driving wedges within the society.

Responding to the tribal community's demand, Das announced to establish a stadium in the name of tribal leader Jaipal Singh Munda and an adivasi auditorium for the promotion of tribal art and culture in 2018.

He also announced to introduce fellowship to help tribal students achieve higher education.

While greeting tribals on the occasion of Sohrai, Das crowned the winner of Ms and Mr Adivasi pageant contest held on the occasion.

Among others, BJP MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and MLA Menka Sardar (Potka) also addressed the gathering.
