Body of a 45-year-old farmer, suspected to have been killed by elephant, was found floating today in a pond at Thuvapathi on the city outskirts, police said.
The body of Vellingiri, a tribal, was found by passersby and the villagers and they informed about it to the Forest Department officials, who rushed to the spot and retrieved the body.
Severe injuries on the body suggested that he could have been died due to attack by elephant, police said.
