A tribal girl studying in a state-run residential school died at her hostel at Udala in Mayurbhanj district today even as her father alleged that she was murdered.
The 13-year-old student of class VII of Bahubandha Girls' Residential School was found in unconscious condition this morning inside her room in the hostel, police said.
She was taken to Udala Subdivisional Hospital where the girl was declared dead on arrival, they said.
Meanwhile, the girl's father, Sunaram Soren, a resident of Udala town, has alleged that her daughter was murdered inside the school campus and registered a complaint with police in this regard.
"There are marks of strangulation in her neck," the girl's father alleged.
"We are probing the incident. The persons responsible for the death of the girl would be taken into task after the enquiry report is received," District Welfare Officer Krupasindhu Behera said.
