Tribal killed by Maoists

A tribal labourer was killed by Maoists in Odisha's Malkangiri district suspecting him to be a police informer, police said today.

A group of armed Maoists stormed Tangaguda village late last night and forcibly took away the man from his home at gunpoint accusing him to be a police informer, police said.

His body with the throat slit was found at the outskirts of the village this morning after which a police team was sent to the site, the police said.

In another development, a brief exchange of fire took place between the elite Special Operation Group and Maoists in the dense Kurub forest in Kalimela area of the district, police said.
 

The Maoists fled the scene and no injury to anyone was reported, the police added.
