No case of HIV positive and AIDS has been reported from Lahaul and Spiti and it is the only district in the state where no case of the disease has been reported, Himachal Pradesh AIDS Control Society (HPSACS) officials said.

The state, with a population of 68 lakh, has 6,481 HIV positive cases and 2065 out of them are full blown AIDS cases.

However, the number of cases is higher in Kangra, Hamirpur and Mandi districts in mid hills.

Kangra, the most populated district, has the highest number of 639 AIDS patients, followed by Hamirpur 512, Mandi 235 and Bilaspur 206 cases.

The state capital Shimla has 65 AIDS patients.

As per records with HPSACS, this year 412 new cases of HIV positive were detected in Himachal.

Interestingly, Lahaul-Spiti has set an example with 1,017 females per 1,000 males in the 0-6 age group -- the highest in the country at the district level -- as per the census for 2011.

The district has also seen a rise in sex ratio in the past 10 years. It has shown an improvement of 114 and increased from 916 in 2011 against 802 in 2001.

As per health department records, 52 children are under the grip of this disease in the state.
