Tribal man killed over land dispute

A 32-year-old tribal man was beaten to death allegedly by five persons over a long-standing dispute over land at Jhaligora Tola Sagarsai in Hatgamariah police station in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, police sources said.

The accused barged into the house of Budhram Sawaiya in the intervening night of 1 September and 2 September and beaten him to death with lathis and weapons, officer-in-charge of the police station, Madan Mohan Singh said.

The victim's wife, Biren Kui alias Biren Sawaiya, who was not present when the incident took place, was informed about the incident by her 10-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son, where were present with their father, he said.
 

A FIR was lodged in this regard on the statement of Biren Kui and four accused identified as Krishna Kunkal, Pandu Sinku, Chokai Sinku and Durga Berjo were arrested and forwarded to jail today, Singh said adding that Pandu's brother Chamra Sinku was reported at large.
