A tribal man was gunned down by Maoists suspecting him to be a police informer in Odisha's Malkangiri district early today.
Armed Maoists struck at the house of Raju Hentala at Ralegada village and took him away. His body with bullet marks was later found in the forest near the village, Superintendent of Police Akhileswar Singh said.
The Maoists apparently suspected that Hentala was working as a police informer, police sources said.
The Maoists had earlier pasted a large number of posters and banners in several places of the district asking people to boycott the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
