Tribal woman gang-raped, 3 held

A 21-year-old tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped by four persons in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, police said today.

The woman, who had moved to a deserted spot for some emergency during a 'jatra' show at Mahuri village under Baisinga police station limit, was forcibly lifted by the four accused persons and allegedly gang-raped last night, they said.

The victim hailed from nearby Gajadi village under Badasahi police station area.

The woman's husband and other family members were seated in the jatra audience and became worried when she did not return after a while.

"We have arrested three of the four accused persons so far. All the accused have been identified," officer-in-charge of Baisinga police station Ramakanta Muduli said.
 

A case has been registered against the accused youth in the age group of 25 years under section 376 (D) (Intercourse by any member of the management or staff of a hospital with any woman in that hospital), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and section 3 of the SC, ST Atrocity Act, Muduli said.
