Residents of a tribal hamlet here have alleged that the modesty of their women folk was being outraged by forest personnel on the pretext of carrying out frisking operations for the past few days.
Days after the tribals staged a protest over the issue, a woman police inspector today visited Kadamalaikundu village in Megamalai forest range and carried out investigations with the locals on their charge, police said.
Theni SP V Baskaran had ordered the inspector to look into the accusations of the tribals that the forest personnel were outraging the modesty of their women by allegedly asking them to strip their saris while conducting checks over the last few days.
After recording the version of the forest officials, Inspector Ramalakshmi will submit her report to the police and revenue officials for further action, police said.
