The tribals of Chordiya, Sind Baroda and Bhagora villages had started clearing and ploughing the 300 acres of land since Saturday night, while seeking it as per the provisions of Forest Rights Act, meant for landless tribals living in the vicinity of a forest, official sources said.

This morning, forest SDO Pradeep Kumar Rawat along with other officials reached the site, located about 8 km from Mhow tehsil headquarters, and tried to persuade them to call off their agitation.

Police officials also reached the area and after Indore Divisional Forest Officer Sayeed Khan, Mhow SDM Avinash Lavaniya, tehsildar Amandeep Singh Hooda and other officials talked to the villagers, they called off the agitation.

Later, Lavaniya assured them of suitable action by the administration in the matter, sources added.
