Tributes paid to 5 IAF personnel killed in chopper crash

A wreath laying ceremony in honour of five personnel of Indian Air Force (IAF), who died in a helicopter crash during rescue mission in Gaurikund on June 25, was held at Hindon Air Force Station today.

IAF chief N A K Browne and other IAF officials attended ceremony.

IAF lost five of its officials during rescue operations on Uttarakhand in a chopper crash.

District magistrate and senior police officials of Ghaziabad were also present.

Wing Commander Daryll Castellino, Flight Lieutenants Tapan Kapoor and K Praveen, Junior Warrant Officer A K Singh and Sergeant Sudhakar Yadav were killed in the chopper crash.
 

The bodies were flown in a special aircraft C-130J from Dehradun to the Hindon Air Force Station.

Draped in tri-color, the body of Flight Lieutenant Tapan Kapoor was taken to his house in Chandni Chowk in Delhi.

The convoy of the martyr was escorted by Delhi police and IAF officials.
