Tributes paid to CPI leader V Subbiah

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy paid homage at the statue of former Health Minister and veteran CPI leader of Puducherry V Subbiah on the occasion of his 24th death anniversary today.

Ministers and legislators of ruling Congress were among those who paid tributes to the leader.

Subbiah was Health Minister of Puducherry when the DMK formed a coalition government with the support of the CPI here in1969.

He also was Health Minister in the AIADMK led coalition government in 1974.

Subbiah was Secretary of the Puducherry unit of the CPI in the pre merger days and was running a journal 'Swathanthiram' which was the mouthpiece of the CPI.
