Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar led parliamentarians in paying floral tributes to the former Speaker, who had passed away last year.
Secretaries-General of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha T K Viswanathan and Shumsher K Sheriff and senior officers of the Lok Sabha secretariat were also present.
A booklet on Bhagat was also released in Hindi and English.
A veteran freedom fight, Bhagat had rich parliamentary experience and was elected as Speaker of 5th Lok sabha on January 5, 1976. He was a member of the Provisional Parliament, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth Lok Sabhas.
As Union minister, he had held important portfolios of Finance, Defence, Planning, External Affairs, Foreign Trade and Supply, Steel and Heavy Engineering and later became governor of Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
