"Mishra deserves kudos for building BJP at the grassroots level during a distinguished career spanning over six decades," Gadkari said at an all-party condolence meeting here.
Recalling Mishra's contribution in strengthening the party's cadre base since joining Jan Sangh in 1959, Gadkari said the departed leader deserves credit for BJP's present "robust presence" in the political scene as it rules nine states on its own or with allies, besides being the main opposition party at the Centre.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, former BJP president Rajnath Singh, RSS Sarsanghchalak Suresh Soni, BJP MPs Shatrughan Sinha, Syed Shahanwaz Hussain, Ravishankar Prasad and others also recounted their association with Mishra and his contribution in shaping their political careers.
JD(U) state unit president Vashistha Narayan Singh, Bihar Assembly speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary, RJD leader Shakuni Chaudhary, Congress' Vinod Sharma, CPI leaders Badri Lal and Kedar Pandey too recalled Mishra's contribution to the state politics and his affection towards leaders from all political parties.
