Tributes paid to pastor who was gunned down in Ludhiana

Rich tributes were paid to pastor Sultan Masih today, who was gunned down by two unidentified bike-borne men in front of a church here at Salem Tabri locality on July 15.

Leaders of various political parties including Congress, SAD, BJP and AAP were among those who paid tributes.

Punjab Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary addressed the memorial service organised by the leaders of the Christian community.

Chaudhary said that Masih was a great social reformer.

Senior Akali leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, while paying tributes to Masih, alleged that "these killings" and particularly of a religious preacher is an utter failure of Punjab government.
 

Ravinder Arora, president, Ludhiana district unit of the BJP, strongly condemned the killing of a religious leader and demanded that the culprits should be nabbed at the earliest.

Senior leader of the AAP, Aman Arora alleged that law and order situation in the state was worsening day by day.

The police had constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the murder of the pastor.
