: Nasdaq listed Trimble will set up a technology lab at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, to serve architecture, engineering and construction students.
The lab would expand the IIT Madras leadership in training and research in 3D building design, digital fabrication and sustainable built environment.
"The Trimble Technology Lab will benefit students enrolled in the Institute's department of civil engineering, who will be able to experience Trimble solutions", a press release said.
Applications of these solutions range from scanning of historic buildings for preservation, design and 3D printing of architectural building models, among others.
"Partnering with one of the leading engineering institutes in India is exciting. It will be rewarding to see the next generation of architecture, engineering, construction", Trimble Vice-President Roz Buick said.

The lab would include a broad range of Trimble's industry leading software solutions such as RealWorks scanning software, Trimble Business Centre, Vico Office Suite and GCEstimator Suite, among others.
"We are very pleased to announce this state-of-the-art technology lab through a gift from Trimble", IIT Madras, professor in the Civil Engineering department, Ashwin Mahalingam said.
Trimble's software solutions are valuable throughout the construction lifecycle, from conceptual design to construction to operations and maintenance and students will benefit greatly, he said.
