The Trinamool Congress today blasted the Narendra Modi government for increasing rail fare and freight, wondering whether it was a "super rail budget before the rail budget".

"Is this a super rail budget before the rail budget?" Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP and spokesman Derek O'Brien told PTI.

"The common man is already burdened, now he will be over-burdened," he commented.

He said that just before the elections, there was a fare hike. "Now another round of hike. Tricks of the previous government followed by the present one also. No respite for common man", he said.

Trinamool Congress, which is the fourth largest party in Parliament, has 34 MPs in the Lok Sabha and 12 in the the Rajya Sabha.
