West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi today said that he was indebted to the state for encouraging him to grow as a poet and acknowledged the love and respect he received from Bengal's august literary circle.

Tripathi told a select gathering at the Raj Bhavan at the launch of the Bengali translaton of a book of poems written by him that it was 'unimaginable' for him to have received respect and honour from the literary world.

"When I was appointed as Governor of West Bengal I had uncertainities in my mind. But the respect and honour I have received from the literary world of West Bengal was unimaginable for me," Tripathi said.

The book of poems, translated into Bengali by Nani Sur, is titled "Keshari Nath Tripathir Nirbachito Kabita" and is fomally released by renowned novelist and poet Nabaneeta Dev Sen. Professor Indra Nath Choudhuri and writer Ramkumar Mukhopadhyay were present at the launch.

"I was not aware that I will get such respect. I never knew that my poems will be translated in Bengali ever," an overwhelmed Tripathi said.

One of Tripathi's poems has been used as a song in an upcoming bilingual movie on patriotism and nationalistic values. The song for the movie (Jowar Bhata in Bengali and Rishtey in Hindi) will be sung by BJP leader and Union minister Babul Supriyo.
