Half-centuries from skipper Manisankar Murasingh and Gurinder Singh in the lower order lifted Tripura to 549 against Himachal Pradesh in their Ranji Trophy group C match here today.

Murasingh hit three sixes and 10 fours en route to his 84 as he along with Gurinder Singh (79; 8x4) stitched 117 runs for the seventh wicket to take Tripura close to 500.

Tripura posted 549 all out in 162.2 overs and in reply Himachal Pradesh were 50/1 trailing by 499 runs at stumps on day two with Ankush Bains (28) and Nikhil Gangta (12) at crease at Bengal Cricket Academy ground.

Resuming on 305/2, Tripura lost four wickets in the first session including that of overnight centurion Smit Patel who got out without any addition to his yesterday's 111.

Centuries from Patel and Bishal Ghosh (145) had taken them past 300 but riding on left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar (5/138) Himachal Pradesh started the day on a positive note.

But Murasingh and Gurinder seized the momentum and hit respective half-centuries as Tripura posted a tall 549 in their first innings.

Brief Scores:

Tripura 1st innings: 549 allout in 162.2 overs (Smit Patel 111, Manisankar Murasingh 84, Gurinder Singh 79; Mayank Dagar 5/138).
