Tripura Congress today brought its fight against the state's Left Front government to the national capital as it held a 'dharna' and accused it of harbouring dubious chit fund companies.

Later, senior leaders of the party's Tripura unit met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and apprised him of the developments.

Tripura PCC chief Birajit Sinha and CLP leader Sudip Roy Barman discussed the Manik Sarkar government's alleged inaction in securing justice for people affected by "chit fund scam".

Earlier, scores of party workers also staged a 'dharna' at Jantar Mantar here. The leaders also met President Pranab Mukherjee and Congress President Sonia Gandhi yesterday.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Sinha and Barman alleged that the Left Front regime had done nothing as 92 of the 142 chit fund companies "fled after siphoning off money of the common people."

They also accused the state's four-time Chief Minister Sarkar of working as a "brand ambassador" for those companies.
