Congress party in Tripura today sought the Centre's intervention to help state government employees get central pay scale.

In a memorandum, Tripura's Congress MLA and former PCC Gopal Chandra Roy said that among the 29 states of the country, Tripura government is the only state which has not given central pay scale and DA as par with Centre to its employees and pensioners.

"The pay, allowances drawn by serving employees and pension by retired employees in Tripura are the lowest in the country," he said in the memorandum submitted to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Roy alleged the "misrule and mischievous" policies of the Tripura's Left Front government have brought the states's 1.70 lakh employees and officers to the brink of disaster in terms of extremely poor pay.

"I earnestly appeal to you, on behalf of the deprived and exploited employees, officers and pensioners of Tripura, to take appropriate decision and save them from sliding to the margins of human existence," Roy said.
