Tripura government today announced an additional four per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) for its 2,09,000 employees and pensioners.

The decision to provide additional four percent DA to the state government employees was taken today at a meeting of the council of ministers chaired by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, state Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha said.

Informing that the hiked DA would be effective from the current month, Saha said the government has also decided for considerable increase of wages for those with fixed pay, contingent workers and part-time employees.

"The state government is facing serious financial crunch due to the Central government's decision to reduce allocation. But despite the constraints, we have released four per cent DA for which the government will have to bear an additional financial responsibility of Rs 134.40 crore," he said.

With this new instalment, DA of state government employees and pensioners would go up to 83 per cent.

The state government would decide about implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission after the Centre takes a final decision on the issue, Saha said.
